Introduction & making contact

The Society's web site was created by the former Web Editor Roger Middleton.  It is maintained by the current Web Editor, Dr Leigh Shaw-Taylor (University of Cambridge), who chairs the IT Committee, and the Society's Administrative Secretary, Maureen Galbraith. The general email contact address is ehswebmaster@hist.cam.ac.uk; a Note for Contributors and Content Managers is in preparation, as are Rules for use of the Bulletin Board.

If you have content that you would like posted and/or points to raise about the site do please email us on the general contact address, reading first the Note for Contributors and Content Managers if appropriate. To assist us in providing the best possible service please be very clear about which page(s) your query concerns and the nature of your request. We aim to complete minor content management tasks within 48 working hours.

Site history

The current site was launched at the Society's annual conference in Durham on 5 April 2003. It was planned and designed by the Web Editor in conjunction with Blackwell's Web Design Team, and especially Daphne de Swardt, Igor Novakovic and David Emery, after extensive consultations with the Society's membership and officers over an extended period beginning in the autumn of 2001. The previous version of this site, archived at www.ehs.org.uk/archive/default.htm, was in operation from autumn 1997 until 2 April 2003.
