The position is in the discipline of economic and social history, which has a professorship, an associate professorship, a university lectureship as well as some 30 researchers and doctoral students in addition to the present position. The discipline annually awards some 15 Master’s degrees and two or three doctoral degrees. Economic and social history is a study track in the Bachelor’s and Master’s Programmes in Society and Change together with political history, development studies, and social and cultural anthropology. 

The duties of the university lecturer will include providing teaching in accordance with the degree requirements, supervising and examining theses and dissertations, and conducting research in the field.
