Publications
Membership of the Society includes a subscription to:
- The Economic History Review, published quarterly, with over 800 pages per volume and edited by Professors Stephen Broadberry (London School of Economics) and Phillipp Schofield (Aberystwyth University). Information on institutional subscriptions and personal subscriptions (via membership of the Society).
- Virtual issues of the Economic History Review.
- ReFRESH: Recent Findings of Research in Economic and Social History. This series, published in pamphlet form twice-yearly between 1985-2001, and amounting to 30 issues in all, was designed to help history teachers keep abreast of current developments in economic and social history. Whilst no longer an active series, the 30 issues have been digitalised and are available on-line as pdf files.
- e-ReFRESH: a new series of on-line learning resources which are similar in purpose to ReFRESH but take advantage of developments in C&IT.
- Publication of the Newsletter of the Economic History Society has now ceased. Archived issues.
In addition, the Society is involved in a number of publishing ventures through its Publications Committee (Chair: Professor Barry Doyle):
- The Publications Committee has inaugurated a new series in partnership with publishers Boydell and Brewer entitled People, Markets, Goods: Economies and Societies in History. The editorial committee of Professors Nigel Goose, Steve Hindle, Jane Humphries and Kevin O’Rourke welcome submissions on all aspects of economic social history. Enquiries to Professor Barry Doyle.
- In 2009 the Committee established a very successful successor to the New Studies in Economic and Social History. Entitled, New Approaches to Economic and Social History, this is edited by Professors Barry Doyle and Larry Neal. All enquiries to Professor Doyle.
- New Studies in Economic and Social History, published for the Society by Cambridge University Press; title list.
- Royal Historical Society Studies in History; co-funded by the Society. Recent volumes include: Samantha Wiliams, Poverty, Gender and Life-Cycle under the English Poor Law, 1760-1834, Woodbridge: Boydell Press/Royal Historical Society (2011); for this and others in this series.
It has also published a number of volumes directly, including:
