Nomination and election of the Honorary Treasurer
Members of the Economic History Society are invited to contact Council members with suggestions for the office of Honorary Treasurer, which will become vacant at the Annual General Meeting on Saturday, 29 March 2014 at the University of Warwick. Deadline for nominations: 29 June 2013.
Please note that Council recently revised the current election procedures which can be found below.
Nomination and Election Procedure:
- Each nomination must be supported by a total of five members of the Society, whose names must accompany the nomination.
- Council members can submit one nomination only for each office for which there is a vacancy.
- Nominations must be accompanied by: a brief CV, a note of service to the Society, a one-page paper on how they perceive the office and how they intend to contribute to the advantageous development of the Society, if elected.
- An Election sub-committee will be convened by the Executive. This committee will normally include the two Council representatives on the Executive and will exclude the incumbent officers for the election and any nominees to the vacant office(s).
- The sub-committee will scrutinise the nominations and, if required, propose two candidates for election to each vacant office. If there is only one suitable candidate, the AGM will be asked to approve that individual. (If no suitable candidate has been proposed the sub-committee will ask Council for further nominations.) If the sub-committee concludes that there is only one suitable candidate the AGM will be asked to approve that individual. If no suitable candidate has been proposed the sub-committee will make a further request to Council for nominations.
- The mode of election will be an electronic ballot of all members via the Society's website (www.ehs.org.uk).
- Following an election, a single name will be presented for approval to the AGM.
- Should an election be required, electronic voting via the Society's website will open in mid-November for a two-week period. Each registered user will be able to vote once for each post for which there is a ballot; only EHS members can register on the website.

- Go to the registration page at: www.ehs.org.uk
- The Membership Number referred to on the website can be found on the carrier sheet which accompanies your copy of the Economic History Review (above your address). The number is referred to as: SUBS REF.
